Evaluation: Question 7- looking back at your preliminary task, What do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Through the development from the first preliminary task, to the current final project, I have learnt a great deal, from the filming, and editing aspects of the film making. These have all contributed to the outcome of the final product.

Through the development of the task, as a group we moved on to premier pro, from iMovie. This was a much more sophisticated and industry based software, which required practice, to be able to produce a quality product. This was one of the more significant learning curves which greatly contributed to the project.
As part of the editing process, we learnt how to create titles, which would match the genre of film we were making. This was key as it contributed to the Mise-en-scene of the opening therefor we had to make the titles so that the audience would collate information from them relevant to the film and story.

looking back on the titles they were not extremely difficult to learn how to make, however they were pivotal to the opening, so it was key that we, had a clear understanding of them, knew how to make then to a high standard.

During the preliminary task all the filming was completed in a light concentrated environment, meaning it was simpler to edit and we had no need for much light adjustment, this also meant we needed limited knowledge on how the exposure on a camera works. In contrast; in the new project it was going to be filmed in darker conditions, as we were following the conventions of horror films, because of the group had to familiarise with camera settings, for filming in the dark, and controlling the exposure in our shots. We found this difficult to start as some shots have more light than the others, meaning when editing, we had to further have to change the lighting. Eventually we adapted to the camera, and we started to get the shots which were adequate for the film.

When editing we also had to learn how to adjust the light settings there for some of the shots which were not exposed correctly, this came useful when we didn't have enough time to re film, and we needed clear footage. This was not that difficult once we learned how to do it, and this was very effective in improving the quality of the opening.

While filming we learned various things which we did not predict. One of these where the camera shots which were originally in the story board, did not always turn out to be what we had envisioned, and we learned that, the story board can easily change once the filming and editing has started for the better of the film, meaning a lot of the scenes would be cut out. During this we also added extra shot which were not planned, as these where taken as precautionary, in case there was a problem with the others, like bad lighting, or unwanted props in the shots etc.

During the planning of the opening, we also learned how to write, different methods of presenting out opening idea. We used things like screen plays and treatments, things that we were not accustomed with before this. This meant researching and learning how to write them clearly so the rest of the team could understand them, so there was no confusion when filming or editing.

Overall I believe that the things we have learned during the process are very significant to the outcome and development of the project. I also think that these can be used in future projects, as we now know what to do, if problems like lighting occur. In the future editing and filming will also be quicker as we have learned how to use the cameras, and we are able to premiere pro with a manor of ease.

Evaluation: Question 6 - What have you learnt about Technologies from the process of constructing this product?

As a group i think that we have learnt quite a large amount about technology to do with film, especially in two specific areas and these are; the use of the camera and editing software.

I think as a group we gathered that without technology not just for us but  the whole film industry would not exist as they would wouldn't be anything to film with or to edit with. So therefore we learnt that technology was one of the main parts of constructing our final product.
To begin with we learnt to use the camera using a standard iPad which  was alright but would prove to difficult to use for our final product because its functions were to basic for what we had aimed for.
The camera that we used was a canon legria. This was your ordinary HD camcorder that you would take on holiday and use in standard mode to film those precious moments. However we got to grips with this camera knowing about all of its functions and what they did and whether we could use those functions to our advantage for our film.

To understand the canon legria a lot more we searched on YouTube to find out how to use the legria for best effect and they were countless videos explaining to us how to use the camera. So we gained a lot of knowledge in a ten minute video as appose to reading the manual for instructions. In these videos we were able to work out how to use manual focus, exposure and contrast, these are just a few of the things we learnt online. We then had practice runs with the camera to make sure that we knew how to use it and from that we gathered the few functions that we needed to record our project with.

When we had captured our footage on the iPad we used iMovie to edit the footage and that's how we created our preliminary task. Like the iPad, iMovie was a basic editing software. We resulted to using Premiere Pro which is an advanced editing software to iMovie. This software to begin with was quite complicated as it had a lot of functions but once after messing around with it, it began to be easy to use.Especially as i was the one on titles i learnt how make the titles flicker and how to make them faded in and to fade out at the point i wanted them to.

In conclusion the use of technology has enabled us to take footage we have gathered from a camera and edit that exact footage into a short clip that makes sense and can be easy accessed via YouTube or on Blogger

Evaluation: Question 5-How did you attract/address your audience?

Evaluation: Question 4 - Who would be the audience for your media product?

When creating our film we spent plenty of time on deciding on what our target audience should be for our film opening. In the end, we came to the decision of our horror film being aimed at those in their teenage years preferably fifteen and over as they will be mature enough to go watch it on their own. Also, they will be earning money from their own part time jobs which means they have a higher chance to go watch our film in the cinema instead of those who don't have the money. As the majority of our target audience will be a student within the higher education they will be able to access all the discounts including the cinema which will encourage our audience to go watch our film in the cinema. Even though our audience will have the money from their part time job they will be needing all their pennies so discounts will benefit our target audience.

Whilst discovering as a group who we thought would be best appropriate for our film opening we created a brainstorm of a typical member within our target audience.

The typical member of our target audience is quite confident and socially active. Like I said before, the age we are focussing on is from 15 to 17. This male enjoys sport activities and plays quite a masculine character. Alternatively with this in mind, he doesn't have a dad and plays the protective brother towards his little sister who lives with him in his mother's house. We thought we would give this character this specific family lifestyle as it is quite common for a teenager to live this lifestyle in this day and age which would mean our target audience is very realistic. Even though he likes the classic horror genre of movies, he carries a great sense of humour.

In his spare time he likes to watch old classic movies at home from his DVD's or any film's shown on television. He also prefers to go on dates and watch new released horror films so he has someone to cuddle up to and not show his weakness. He is a student and to earn extra money he works a part time job at ASDA which involves him working on the tills and talking to customer's because he has excellent communication skills. He takes pride in his appearance with his nicely styled hair and good fashion sense. As well as taking care of his skin, he is also well-groomed with a good hygiene.

Evaluation: Question 3 - What kind of media institute might distribute your media project and why?

Momentum pictures is one of the leading independent motion picture distributors in the UK and Ireland. So therefore having a well known distributor company will mean that they have more links with other companies in ways that would help distribute our film vastly. An example of what i mean is Sony. Sony is a major media conglomerate which means that they have a lot of links with other companies that would help distribute their film. Lets take Sky Fall for example Sony did everything they could to help distribute that film for example the Olympics when Daniel Craig jumped out of a helicopter as James Bonds onto the Olympic stadium that was one way of advertising Sky Fall to people all over the world. This worked out effectively because the Guardian newspaper stated that roughly around 95% of the British population watched the opening ceremony. That's a very wide audience that Sony would have reached with that short clip of James Bond jumping out of a helicopter onto the stadium.

To begin with our media project was a small budget film which meant that being in connection with major media conglomerates would be off the table. We would have to result in smaller media distributors that may not be as big as Sony, Walt Disney Company and News Corporation . These small distributors include Momentum, CBS, and Alliance Films. Distributors such as these would be the ideal ones for our media project because although they are not big media conglomerates they still distributes high standards of films. for example Momentum pictures has distributed some of the big blockbuster to hit the film industry; films such as the Woman In Black starring Daniel Radcliffe, Sinister, Insidious, The Kings Speech and Law Abiding Citizen starring Samuel. L Jackson. these are just only a few of films that they have distributed that have had great success. If we had to choose one main distributor for our project it would have to be Momentum pictures

Another way Sony distributed Sky Fall is by Adele singing her Hit record titled 'Sky Fall' this song was the theme song for the film. However "Sky fall" was released on 5 October 2012 as part of the Global James Bond Day, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the release of Dr. No, the first James Bond film. The song quickly went to the top of the iTunes chart, and reached number two at the UK Singles Chart and eight on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was released 18 days before the actual film was released and with in that lapse of time the recognition of the film Sky Fall grew vastly.
Woman in black ver4.jpg
Momentum pictures may not have that sort of power within them to distribute a film as well as Sony can but they are still worthy contenders. A recent and similar film to ours that momentum have distributed is Woman in Black starring Daniel Radcliffe. Momentum used Daniel Radcliffe to their advantage by that he was in Harry Potter and that Woman in Black would have been his first film out of the Harry Potter sequels. Momentum made sure that Daniel was in all the posters to make sure the audience knew that he was the main character and mainly to draw in all the Harry Potter fans to come and watch the film. Momentum made sure that Daniel Radcliffe was in all the popular talk shows that people watched to help advertise the film, this worked out very effectively for Woman in Black because once people heard about the film it was all word of mouth that advertised the film even more. people would tweet about the film some people would tell their family and friends and word about Woman in Black would have spread in a matter of hours.

In addition to that Woman in Black was also advertised in Comic Con which a major event nowadays that attracts all sorts of people and they all come in numbers. This was another effective way in which Momentum distributed Woman in Black.

I think that Momentum would be a perfect distribution company for our film because they work hard to make small budget films into big blockbusters films such as Woman in Black. They help small independent companies such as Hammer films gain recognition within the film industry and i think that working with Momentum pictures would gain us that recognition. Another reason is that they aim to get the best out of the film they are distributing; like in Woman in Black. Originally it was going to be a 15 certificate but Momentum thought it would be better to cut 6 seconds to make the film into a 12A certificate. they did this so that they could draw all age ranges.

This obviously worked well for Woman in Black and i think that with the guidance and driven power that Momentum have they could help our film be distributed as effective as Woman in Black was.

Evaluation: Question 2 - How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Evaluation:Question 1 - In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Our opening begins with a plain background which already makes the audience question what is happening. The audience start to feel uncomfortable as they can start to hear a voice but no image - this shows the common fear of people who are scared of the dark. The girl who sings the lullaby would sound sane if the presentation was displayed differently however because the audio is played over a black background it makes the audience question her emotion and reasoning for singing this lullaby. As the song goes on the woman becomes more aggressive towards her lyrics, whilst this occurs the titles start to appear with a constant flicker which starts to build the tension towards our target audience.

The titles are displayed using both lower and upper cases incorrectly which for most people this would cause plenty of discomfort. This convention will start to irritate the audience as they will not be used to the presentation of the titles. A lot of horror films tend to alter their titles in some way to make their audience feel uncomfortable. In 'Dead Wood' the title of the film production is shown at the beginning in a bold, white font which is presented on a black background to make the writing stand out to the crowd maybe this is a symbolism of warning which is making the character feel aware of the message coming across to them. This links back to our opening as we have presented the white font onto a black background to address the same warning to our target audience. Another example of titles which relate to the use of upper and lower cased letters is 'The Wrong Turn'. This film displays their titles in only upper cased letters to show danger is ahead. This proves that the use of the lower and upper cased letters are very effective towards the audience.

The establishing shot is a typical convention used in any films so the audience can identify where the camera shots are held. The way the establishing shot is presented is what is most obvious about what genre the film is and the way that our establishing shot is presented shows a typical shot you would expect in a horror film. The house being separated in a dark area with only minimum light and only the quiet diegetic sound is an obvious convention.

When our character Matthew looks outside the window it shows he is cautious of any intruders as he is on his own. This convention shows he is quite vulnerable which does not match the usual convention of horror movies as there is usually a girl who is left to be vulnerable just like in 'Dead Mary'. In our opening their is a male who is vulnerable which is odd to have in a film however the male is on his own in the house and is a teenager so not as dominant as a male adult would be portrayed in a horror movie.

The scenes are quite simple with just a bed and Matthew which builds more tension as to what could happen. The non-diegetic music is another convention in our opening as the loud bass echoes build plenty of tension just like any other typical horror movie who would aim to reach this objective. The small doses of electricity played throughout the non diegtic sound creates a larger impact as it could suggest the danger and warning of what's to come.

The convention of the lighting becoming darker when the camera is on Carrie shows that she is tha bad person in the film. The short shots of Carrie along with the non diegetic sound build up tension towards the audience. The followed on close up shot of Matthew's face shows that he has a lot of room behind him which shows him being vulnerable and lonely.

Completed film opening

Above shows our completed film opening for our Media project. As you can see from the preliminary task which is underneath there has been progress within the use of camera, lighting and editing. I have found that as a group we have all became strong with the knowledge of how to use the camera correctly and to its greatest advantage.

Editing: Importing and editing in Premiere pro

Now we have all the footage that we need for our opening, we can begin to edit our footage using Premiere Pro.

To begin, we had to create a new project on Premiere Pro. We called the project 'Carrie raw footage' as we were just going to do a rough copy on what we have produced.

When our project was created, we imported our footage from the as filming 1 folder which contained all of our footage. Not all of our footage was going to be used within our opening as we had 19 minutes full of filming. The shots we had were done a numerous amount of times using different lighting and angles to ensure we had all the best footage.

Our next step was to add all the best clips together to help create a rough idea of how the opening was going to be presented. We trimmed the majority of clips due to the actor not being prepared on time. This wasn't a massive issue as it was solved but i think in the future we would need an actor who could be prepared to act for our opening. Another issue we had was that a lot of the lighting was very dark so this meant we had to replace some shots with more lighting to enable us to have a clearer view of what is going on within the shots. Even though we wanted to create a dark, horror effect during our opening we thought to film with more light and then change the effect using Premiere Pro to help us gain that same effect.

Above shows a rough idea of what our opening will be like. The bar along the top shows a red section which isn't good, this effects the footage by making it run slowly. To fix this, we clicked at the top onto 'Sequence' then 'Render Entire Work Area'. To know that this has worked, the red section should turn into green which will then help the footage run smoothly.

The gaps in between out footage are set out ready for our titles to be put into. We also made a couple quick pauses to cause tension within our opening. For the last shot we wanted overlap a sound clip on our female character, Carrie, to sing a lullaby. We already recorded the footage of her singing which will trim and add into the end however we recorded her singing for the second time so we could adjust the tuning and add effects throughout garage band.

Test sound edit AS media

This was completed by Panashe Charamba as part of team Blackhat's test sound edit for the 2 minute opening.

When creating sound we have a few options for the film. we are able to use both diabetic and non diabetic sound. In our filming we are going to use non-diabetic sound, this is because we do not have the correct recording equipment that will allow use to get good clear sound, that we will need for our opening. We are able to make musical sound tacks using software like garage band, or download clips from free sound.

In garage band I was able to layer pre-recorded beats and sounds to create a track, which to add to the film opening, the screen shot below shows the practice sound track which I made to familiarise myself with the software.
Garage band also allowed me to control the fade of the tracks freely to match in to any footage and film we are going to use.
Overall garage band was a good way to create a track as it allows us to match the sound track to the actual film, which would give it a much greater impact, on the audience. Garage band was also setup similarly to premiere pro, this made it very easy to adapt, and made the overall process much easier.

The final test sound edit, found track is shown below:

Like in garage band free sound also had sounds and tracks preloaded on to it which you could use, but in this cue these where sounds which outer people had made so you would get a greater variation and choose in the sounds which you are able to choose from.
On the other hand you can not manipulate these sounds on the site its self but you can then download them ad addd them to garage band.

In the screen shot below it shows, what free sound looks like. I have simply searched for horror, in the  search bar, and it shows a range of sounds under this category, which you can listen to and use.

Overall garage band is a good site which can be used, if you are struggling to create your own sound track, and if you cannot find certain sound effect from garage band.

Editing:Creating and editing titles [Premiere Pro CS6]

This was completed by titus as part of team black hats title production

This video illustrates how to add titles on primer pro. learning this is crucial to the project as, titles play a key role in the opening of a film. these can give extra information about the film, this could be the obvious information like the actors and producers etc. but they can be also developed so they can inform the audience, what type f film the is and the general theme of it. It is important we can create titles to the highest standard to make our overall product as appealing as possible and professional

Making titles was a fun process because you get to be inventive and think up of ways to get the best effect of the use of titles.

To begin with we had no idea as to what we where going to do, so to try and help us generate some ideas we resulted in watching a few clips from YouTube and once we got some knowledge of how to create titles, we began getting ideas on what i wanted the titles to look like.

As a grope we went for the simple white colour for my titles, we wanted to keep it simple but effective as well. We did toy around with other colours but we always found the white to be the most effective colour in this case. However top begin with we wanted to have two colours white and red, we wanted the white to show then a flicker of red would appear then it would flick back to being white.

Following that we looked at a YouTube video on how to edit titles at a more advanced level and from that we learnt how to make the titles roll on to the screen and how to control them when i wanted them to fade in and out. My best discovery using premiere pro was to make the titles flicker from dark to light, the reason we done this was to give a discomfort sort of feeling to the opening. At the end i found that they wok quite effectively on given that horror movie feel to the audience.

The final finish for the titles were that they would be white, they would flicker and they would fade in a fade out slightly

Premiere Pro Test Edit

This is the stage where I start to develop my editing skills, as I move from iMovie to Premier pro which is a more advanced industry standard software.
Imported files. This is what the files look like when they have been imported.

The time line in premier pro differs from the one on iMovie as it allows you to stack clips, titles and audio on top of each other so its easier to see and edit.
this can then let you do other editing effects like having a smaller separate screen on top of the other, to illustrate a phone call.

Filming: Mise- en-scene

This blog was completed by Mariella Ralph as part of team black hats discussion on the miss-en-scene int the opening.

Carrie (played by Lisa Eady)
This was the make up i produced on our character 'Carrie'. I used face paint to consume a pale colour to her skin but not too pale to make it look like she was quite clearly covered with white face paint. To prevent her from having a single tone on her face I added some other colours to make her make up look more realistic to our audience. I used black to blend in some shadow on her cheeks, nose, forehead and chin so she was able to display a slimming affect along with a daunting approach. I also added some blue to blend out some paint that didn't seem to look alright. I based our character's make up on my experiments which are shown through miss-en-scene. I made some slight alterations as Lisa who was playing our character had eye make up on so i managed to smudge that around her eyes to add effect. I didn't place any blood on her face as it would be irrelevant considering she didn't do anything which caused her to bleed.

Her costume was victorian like we aspired for. She wore a white shirt with a black dress over the top of it. To add an old effect so our character looked like she was dead, I added talcum powder to her clothes, hair and face to give her that final touch.

Matthew (played by Aaron Castagnette)
Aaron didn't need any make up added on to him as he was acting as a typical teenage boy. He wasn't attacked so there was no need for blood or bruises to be added on to him as it would have been irrelevant. Aaron's costume involved him in wearing a plain black t-shirt with some comfortable football shorts as that would be expected of most boys to wear to bed. Aaron used his iPhone as a prop instead of the Samsung we originally had planned, this was because the original prop we had planned was unavailable to use so we had to improvise with another phone.

Filming: Camera testing

Before  starting the filming as a team we had to see if the the camera produces the images which we wanted. by testing the camera, we where able to see its strengths and weakness, and then adapt the opening to this, which would then allow us to produce the best quality film owning possible.

In our opening we had to overcome lighting issues, as the opening was set at night, so we had to see how the camera coped in the dark and what sort of images it produced.

The first shot we had to test was the establishing shot. this shot was set outside, but at night. tho meant that we had to balance the lights from the surrounding environment, and the lack of light focusing on the house, so we could get a clear recognisable establishing shot. In the shot below we had to make sure  we could clearly identify which house the establishing shot w meant to represent, this meant we couldn't let it get to dark so we could still get the silhouette of the house as the light came from behind the house. in this shot we also had to make sure that the lamp we where filming next to wasn't to bright, and didn't disturb the lighting of the shot.

Another shot we had to test was the interior shots. in these shots we had to make sure that we could clearly see what was happening in the shot, but at the same time we still had to have the room dark, as the person in the shot was sleeping. at first the shot was to dark as we didn't have enough light, then we decided to shine a torch, on to the white ceiling so some of the light would be reflected.

Planning Casting

MatthewWe are looking for a white male between the ages of 16-18. Hair and eye colour can vary; there is not a specified colour that we intend on having. This male has to be very confident because that is how Matthew is going to be portrayed in the film. This male must be well organised, confident, outgoing and VERY flexible with their time and also well organised.
Matthew is a one of those teenager kids who has a very focused mind, he knows what he wants and he goes for it. One thing that Matthew is best at is hiding his true self to people he comes across as this courageous, fun slightly egotistical kind of lad but his not like that; deep down he is a soft, kind and caring guy, who is quite afraid of coming across as an inferior individual towards his friends.

Luke Munyaradzi
We couldn't cast Luke because even though he was very confident in front of the camera he couldn't meet the criteria for what we wanted 'Matt' to look like.

Brian Oblitey
Brian seemed like the perfect candidate to play 'Matt' as he studies drama and is an excellent performer. He could easily adjust to our requirements if we needed to make any sudden changes. However Brian has a busy time schedule including his own Media film opening and would not be able to film when we are available.
Aaron Castagnette
Aaron best fits the part to play Matthew as he has the most resemblance to him than all the other applicants. Aaron is confident in front of the camera and would be open to any day we would ask him to film with us. On top of this, Aaron is quirky and can adjust easily to the work we will give him.

Carrie
For the role of Carrie we are looking for a female within the age range of 18-30. Hair and eye colour can vary; there is not a specified colour we intend on having. This female must be has to be very confident as that is how Carrie is portrayed in the film. This female must be well organised, confident, outgoing and VERY flexible with their time and also well organised.

Carrie is very confused to an extent that she thinks that the boy who is known as Matthew is her son due to the fact of similar characteristics and mannerisms. Carrie is a woman of the 1800s so she is humble, simple minded, kind and thankful but in her ghostly form she is vicious, angry, scary and very protective

To play Carrie you have to be able to have  diverse skills in emotions and mannerisms  as that would best fit the role of Carrie.

Becca Payne
Becca is quite shy in front of the camera and even though she has a flexible time schedule and would be able to work with us she wouldn't be appropriate for the role.

Paige Canavan
Paige is an excellent drama student and would be suitable for our role however she wouldn't be able to film with us as her time schedule isn't as flexible as we would like it to be.

Lisa Eady

Lisa is confident and a drama student who likes to take a challenge. She is very easy to work with and flexible with her hours. If any alterations were to happen during filming we know that she will be easy to work with and able to play the part given to her.

Planning: Mise-en-scene Make up

Experimenting with Make Up

After looking at the different make up techniques within horror movies, I played around with some face paint and created a distorted character image.

After experimenting with different types of make up ideas for our movie opening, BlackHat films decided on their final idea for what the make up will look like.

The lady 'Carrie' will look very grey/pale from using plenty of face paint and possibly talcum powder as she will need to look old and rotten. We will use makeup such as talcum powder on the hair and the rest of the body to add this effect. She will be hanging herself so there will be no need for drastic cuts on her face however we are going to add slits on her wrist from her suffering the depression she went through from the loss of her son. This will be done with wax, fake blood, Vaseline and face paint.

The boy 'Matt' will have a slight brush of talcum powder to make his face quite pale but not to an extreme this will be because he would have seen Carrie will become shocked and mortified - the expression of the white face will help show his emotion.

Planning; Mise-en-scene, Props

With in the 2 minute long opening, the props used will be
limited and there will only be quite specific to represent the
age and characteristics of he character. One of the first props
you will see is the teen aged boys bedding. This can be a
clear representation of the sort of character, one example
of this is the blanket show bellow;

If our character where to have these football bedding's, it would mean that he, obviously likes sports  and is most likely a football fan and using gender stereotypes, the character is male. we could choose to use these chelsea football teams blankets to indicate that he supports them, or we

Could also use more generic football blankets, with just the image of
the footballs. we also have another option
not to draw to much attention to the blankets and make then less
noticeable by making them plain.

Another prop that we will see, is the phone. we decided to  use either
one of the phones show below. As they best reflect our character
 personality and characteristics.

We will see this when the character is on the phone with his mother. this prop is important as we will see it close up of it, this is why we need to make sure that the phone clearly represents the character. If the phone is a Samsung s4, this would tell the audience that the character is likely to be quite wealthy or have more money to spend.

If the character had a different mobile phone like a
blackberry, it means that the character, is likely yo be more of a social
person, and they will be quite outgoing, this will also indicate that the
person is heavily dependent on their phone.

The third major prop is the rope. This might be one of the most important props we will have in the opening. this rope will represent how the how the women died and might be a focal point in the opening. the rope will have to look old and worn out, to represent death and decay.

Planning; Mise-en-scene, Costume

The following has been written up by Titus Goremucheche as part of the Mise-en-scene for the opening of the film.

These are a few ideas of the costume for 'CARRIE'. My aim here is to look into clothes that were worn in the 1800s by women and  from that gather a brief outlook on what the character playing Carrie will wear.

I really like the look of this sort of dress because its plain and simple and instantly gives the impression that that dress was worn back in the 1800s a lot compared to what women wear now. Also the dress looks scary and its length means that we can tamper with its length to make sure that it fits to our character best. But we can also use its length to an advantage to draw the audiences attention more to the face of CARRIE rather that what she is wearing. the colour of this dress is also very beneficial because if we decide to
give Carrie any blood splats or discoloring on her
dress; it will be very visible and more effective.

This is another idea of what Carrie could wear this is a night gown and my idea here is that if we made Carrie wear this it would link in more with the situation that shes hangs her self in because shes in her bedroom when she hangs her self and wearing a gown would make more sense if she hung her self wearing this. also like the first one the colour of this one is also nice and again is we wanted to add any blood splats and discoloring we could because it would be visible to the audience. also its length means that we can tamper with it to best fit our character playing Carrie.

These are the costume for the character of  Matthew. The costume for Matthew is very simple and basic, the way we are going to dress Matthew is dependent on his attitude.
If we made Matthew wear pyjamas then it would make him come across as a posh rich kid, who is not very laid back which contrasts the casting information for Matthew. also wearing pyjamas can across as being posh because no teenaged boy between 16-18 is that interested in going to bed wearing pyjamas, they are very lazy and when it comes to sleep they just strip down to their boxer shorts and get into bed.

If we made Matthew wear boxer shorts it would make him come across as a laid back character  where as if we made him wear pyjamas he would be very apprehensive and i don't think that that would work well for our horror movie. so in conclusion we are going to make Matthew wear boxer shorts because its simple basic and its a norm for the majority of teenage boys to wear she they are going to bed.

This task will help us when filming, so we clearly know what the actors are going to be wearing on screen. This means that we can purchase, costumes if needed and conquer any problems before hand. If we decide what costume the actors will have know it will stop mistakes like, different outfits worn by the same character in the same scene. the costumes can also be checked pre hand if they are realistic to the situation and it they fit and are comfortable with the actors so we can get the best result when filming.
