Planning: location

This section of the planning was completed by Mariella ralph as part of a discussion by team black hat, on the location of the opening scene.

For this section of our planning, it involves us exploring all the different locations which would be best suited for our film opening. As a group we decided that we would need a house - preferably with the access of having the house free of other relatives, friends and animals who also live in the same house. This could cause a major impact to our filming as we might want to use all rooms available inside the house and with the company of other people which aren't included in our opening, it could cause a major disruption to our filming - they could be walking in the background, shadows could be displayed in the shot and uncontrollable noises of pets or babies will disrupt any audio within the opening. All of us decided on using either houses from Panashe, Titus or Myself as it was more convenient for us to get easy access of. The targeted room which we will film all the scenes in for our Media Project is the bedroom. We all looked at the different bedrooms within our house which would be seen as most appropriate for our character and for filming. 

This would be good for filming as the bed is big for the character to lay in along with the ghostly mother and the mirrors next to the bed would be good for 'Matthew' when he looks behind himself to see 'Carrie'. However we didn't use this room for our location as the style and appearance of the room would have been more convenient if we used a female character in our opening when alternatively, we chose a male character which ensures us that this feminine bedroom would not be appropriate for our character. 

This room wouldn't be appropriate as it includes a sofa and not a bed. Even though the room contains a lot of space for us to film, it isn't appropriate for the props we would like to use. In addition to this, the interior design is very feminine unlike our character who is male.

This room could be a potential location we could use for our opening as it matches the character BlackHat wishes to portray. If we chose this room for our location we might find difficulty filming particular scenarios and will have to alter the character's actions. For example, we want 'Carrie' to be setting up to hang herself at the end of the bed however there is limited space which will conclude to us changing our character's positioning. 

 

This is another potential room location we could use for our opening as it targets the male character we are trying to portray as a group. There is more space within in this bedroom which makes it more ideal to film in than the other. Some positions of characters will have to be altered however because of the bigger bed it might be easier to change the characters actions than the previous bedroom.
